Police are seeking a Charlottesville man they believe is connected with a homicide near the University of Virginia early this morning. Three other people were injured in the shooting.

Authorities were called to Pacino’s Deli at 1329 W. Main St. in Charlottesville around 2 a.m. There they found Phillip E. Ad-ams Jr., 22, on a sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the chest. Adams was taken to the UVa Medical Center, where he died a short time later.
Police are looking for Darryl Andre Johnson, 20, in connection with the shooting.
Investigators believe Adams was involved in a confrontation with Johnson while attending a private party on the second floor of the deli. That incident then escalated into the shooting, police said.

Three other people were injured in the shooting, but their injuries were not life threatening, police said.
The names of the other victims have not been released. Johnson is described as a 5-foot-8-inch, 140-pound black male. He is charged with murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a murder, malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commis-sion of a malicious wounding.
Anyone with information about Johnson’s whereabouts or who has information about the shooting is asked to call 977-4000 or Detective James Mooney at 970-3374.
