Wachovia bank in city robbed
A man in a tasseled hat robbed the Wachovia Bank at 10th Street Northeast and East High Street in Charlottesville on Tuesday.
He got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, but no one was hurt in the robbery, which took place just after noon.
“[T]he safety and security of our employees and customers is a top priority, and we have a number of measures in place to enhance safety,” wrote Wachovia spokeswoman Aimee Worsley in an e-mail. “We’re happy that all of our customers and employees are safe.”
Police are looking for a thin white man, about 6 feet tall, said Charlottesville police Lt. Ronnie Roberts.
During the crime the man wore sunglasses, a white T-shirt, a brown hooded pullover, blue jeans and a red and black winter cap with strings hanging below the ears and a tassel on top, he said.
He is thought to be 20 to 30 years old, according to a news release.
The man passed a note to a teller before taking the money and fleeing on foot toward East Jefferson Street, Roberts said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crimestoppers at 977-4000.

Show us the picture from the bank cameras!
I want to see if he looks like the guy who robbed other Wachovia banks in NC & SC.
Or maybe they are working together.
