The past and future of the University of Virginia’s physical development will be the focus of an upcoming public briefing titled “Building on Jefferson’s Legacy.”

The briefing, which will be free and open to the public, will feature presentations by UVa architectural history professor Richard Guy Wilson and architect of the university David J. Neuman.
Wilson’s talk, titled “From Village to Grounds: The Changing University Landscape,” will describe how UVa buildings evolved in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Neuman’s talk, titled “UVa’s New Grounds Plan: Sustaining Jefferson’s Intent,” will outline the principles that will guide the university’s development for the next two decades.
The briefing will be held at noon Nov. 10 in the Newcomb Hall Ballroom at UVa. A light lunch will be served and complimentary parking will be offered in UVa’s Central Grounds parking garage on Emmet Street.
