UVa raises in-state tuition by 9.4 percent

The cost to attend the University of Virginia will jump significantly next fall.

The executive committee of UVa’s Board of Visitors on Wednesday set undergraduate tuition rates for the 2008-09 academic year.

The committee approved increasing in-state tuition and fees by 9.4 percent and out-of-state tuition and fees by 6.7 percent.

In-state annual tuition and fees for undergraduates will rise $800, to $9,300.

Out-of-state tuition and fees would rise $1,850, to $29,600.
