The Greene County Sheriff’s Office has received a $150,000 grant for school security.

The Sheriff’s Office and school system had been looking for ways to improve security at schools in the county but lacked funding for such a project, Maj. Randall Snead said.
Along with the grant, awarded by the U.S. Department of Justice, the school system set aside about $150,000 to help with the security improvements, Snead said.

The improvements could be completed by the end of the school year, said Snead, who declined to provide details of the security project.
