The Vietnam War Museum in Greene County is holding its grand opening Monday, with U.S. Rep. Tom Perriello, D-Ivy, scheduled to attend.

The museum houses an impressive collection of weapons and equipment used by American, as well as North Vietnamese, forces during the conflict. One of the museum’s centerpieces is a UH-1D Huey helicopter that flew hundreds of combat missions during the war.
The museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, beginning with a short opening ceremony. Perriello is scheduled to appear at 12:30 p.m.
Members of the board of the Vietnam War Foundation, as well as the museum’s curator and founder, Craig LaMountain, will be available throughout the day to answer questions and lead the hands-on experiences offered at the facility.

Admission is free. The museum is located at 6265 Spring Hill Road, Ruckersville. From Charlottesville take U.S. 29 northbound; take a left on Route 607, Cedar Grove Road, and go a short distance and turn left onto Spring Hill Road; look for the museum sign on the right next to the Alpacas of the Morning Mist Farm sign.
