Water main break forces U.S. 29 lane closure

» 0 Comments | Post a Comment

One southbound lane of U.S. 29 remains closed about one-half mile north of the U.S. 33 intersection in Greene County due to a water main break that flooded the right lane and shoulder of the highway about
9:30 Monday evening. Utility crews from the Rapidan Service Authority will continue working Tuesday to repair the break but the right lane is expected to remain closed until this evening.

The Virginia Department of Transportation’s Stanardsville Area Headquarters is on the scene providing traffic control and any other necessary services in support of the utility’s repair efforts. Once the water main is repaired VDOT crews will investigate the extent of the damage to the pavement and underlying roadway foundation and make repairs.
