Mid-day voter turnout heavy in region

Voters continue to stream to polling places in the Charlottesville region and across Virginia.

As of 4 p.m., 40,005 of the 67,352 registered voters in Albemarle County had cast a ballot, representing a turnout of nearly 60 percent so far.

In Charlottesville, 65 percent of registered voters had voted today by 4 p.m. or by absentee ballot. Of the city’s 28,678 registered voters, 18,655 had voted.
