Presidential surrogates plan area stops

The mother of Republican presidential nominee John McCain will appear Wednesday afternoon at a campaign rally in Albemarle County.
Roberta McCain will be featured at a “Virginia Victory and Volunteer Appreciation Rally” at 6 p.m. at the GOP campaign office in the Albemarle Square shopping center.
McCain’s Democratic rival, Barack Obama, is also sending a couple high-profile surrogates to the Charlottesville area.
Google CEO Eric Schmidt will advocate for Obama at 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the University of Virginia School of Law.
And on Friday, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson will speak at Obama’s “Charlottesville Change We Can Believe In” town hall at 10:15 a.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. Performing Arts Center at 1400 Melbourne Road.
