Sen. R. Creigh Deeds, D-Bath County, was involved in a minor car accident Saturday evening in Louisa County.

Deeds, one of three Democrats running in the June 8 gubernatorial primary, had left from a campaign stop in Fredericksburg and was heading home to spend Mother’s Day with his family.

While heading westbound on Route 22, Deeds rear-ended a passenger vehicle.

Two occupants of the other vehicle received precautionary medical care at a Charlottesville hospital, but were not seriously hurt. They were both released from the hospital that same night.

Deeds, who was traveling alone, was not injured in the crash.
