Louisa County to present series of career workshops

Louisa County Parks and Recreation and LWR & Associates have teamed to present a series of free career transition workshops for people who have lost their jobs or want a new career.

The workshops have four sessions, which will be held twice in the coming months. All sessions will be held between 7 and 8:30 p.m. at the Betty J. Queen Intergenera-tional Center, 522 Industrial Drive, Louisa. Anyone may attend, including people from outside Louisa County.

Session One: Evaluate Your Skills, Consider Your Options. This session will teach attendees how to deal with their career transitions, evaluate their job skills and assess their goals. Networking time will be available. Today and June 10.
Session Two: Develop Your Marketing Materials. Attendees will learn to write a dynamic resume. April 22 and June 17.
Session Three: Create Your Action Plan. On how to conduct a career search and what is involved in the job application process. April 29 and June 24.
Session Four: Sell Yourself. On preparing for career fairs and telephone and in-person interviews. Job offer negotiation also will be discussed. May 6 and July 1.
