A Madison woman accused of shooting and seriously injuring her estranged husband, an Orange County investigator, will return to court Monday.

Orange County District Court Judge Edward Carpenter transferred the case of 49-year-old Brenda L. Canosa of Rochelle to the county’s Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. She is charged with attempted first-degree murder, malicious wounding and firearms charges in Friday’s shooting of Orange Sheriff’s Office Investigator Bob Canosa, 55. She is being held without bond.

Bob Canosa was flown to the University of Virginia Medical Center after the shooting. He was reported in fair condition Wednesday morning.
According to the Virginia State Police, which is leading the investigation, deputies were called to Bob Canosa’s residence just after 6 a.m. Friday. Brenda Canosa was arrested later that evening at her residence.
