U.S. 250 shutdown on Afton Mountain

A scrap trailer has overturned on Afton Mountain just off the Interstate 64 exit ramp, blocking travel in both lanes to drivers on U.S. 250.

Hauled behind a dump truck owned by Thompson Trucking of Concord, the trailer at about 9:45 this morning spilled huge hunks of metal onto U.S. 250 as the driver navigated a turn off I-64 onto U.S. 250 headed toward Afton. The driver was unhurt.

Traffic traveling east on U.S. 250 is being diverted at the intersection onto I-64. Both lanes of U.S. 250 are open to drivers exiting I-64. Both lanes are closed at the intersection to travelers on U.S. 250.
