What is happening to this country?
While visiting Washington, D.C., on Sept. 12, my wife and I found ourselves caught up in a massive crowd of overwhelmingly well-behaved, good-humored and average-looking Americans gathered on the Mall for a Tea Party to protest against government intrusion in their lives and the growing tax burden.

Since there are so many baby boomers who are facing a medical crisis, this matter has become a major concern.
Young artists receive deserved recognition
Kudos to the talented high school students of our community and the Piedmont Council of the Arts in its efforts to encourage and support them.
UVa students give to community
There are hundreds of reasons why the Charlottesville-Albemarle County area is special, but how about three million reasons? That is the number of community service hours University of Virginia students have provided the area since the creation of Madison House, now one of the largest student-led volunteer centers in the country.

New rash of ailments crops up in Congress
There has been a recent revelation of some health concerns that has been affecting those in Congress. Apparently, many of them are seeking medical attention for blisters and calluses on their feet and bruises on their posteriors

On Sept. 26 the Alzheimer’s Association Central and Western Virginia Chapter held its Charlottesville Memory Walk along Berkmar Drive in Albemarle County.
