Liberals, Obama destroying U.S.

The liberals and President Obama have been financially destroying our country ever since he took office. First it was the stimulus money.

Slutzky exaggerates claims of jobs creation

He claims to have saved 1,000 NGIC jobs and brought another 1,000 defense jobs to Albemarle County. Being an election year, I should have expected an incumbent to make such an outrageous claim.

Cynthia Neff’s dedication to nursing profession impressive

I was most impressed with Cynthia Neff’s dedication to the nursing profession and to funding and support for the development of nurse practitioner programs.

Why a Nobel for president?

Please… Can it get any worse? The Nobel Peace Prize to President Obama? For what? When? Why?

Deeds would serve Va. well

Having lobbied the Virginia General Assembly as a citizen lobbyist since 1992 with respect to small farm concerns, I can attest to the fact that candidate for governor Creigh Deeds is especially sympathetic to issues surrounding the sale of food from local farmers directly to consumers.

Don’t put blame on the messenger

The Daily Progress editorial of Oct. 12 (“Negotiation, not threats”) encouraged Albemarle County Commonwealth’s Attorney Denise Lunsford “to work behind the scenes” and “quietly bargain for county [funding] assistance.”

‘Berkeley East’ Slutzky too radical for Albemarle

David Slutzky is the most arrogant politician I have ever met and needs to be reminded that he works for us, and not the other way around.

We are subject to whims of politicians

For many years I have questions the sanity of anyone who would spend a fortune to get a job that was only temporary and paid just a nominal salary. Of course, that happens to be a politician.

What’s to understand about case?

How can a same-sex couple expect to get a divorce in Texas when Texas does not even recognize that they are married?

The debate between state Sen. Creigh Deeds and Robert McDonnell on Oct. 12 made evident the difference between these two men.

President Obama is clearly deficient in meeting the standards for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Thomas is right man for Albemarle board

To remotely suggest that Rodney Thomas was personally resistant to Charlottesville’s integration of the public schools in 1958 is stranger than fiction.

Reform insurance; add new option

Our system is not set up to offer the greatest care to the greatest number of people. It is, instead, set up to profit insurance companies.

Bell’s lack of debates is very disappointing

I am very disappointed in the Hon. Rob Bell. He has failed to welcome his challenger to debates about issues and concerns of residents and voters.

Unequal justice evident in column

Gee, I guess the “race card” only works in one direction, huh?

Deeds would be good to education

I’d like to share some education-related thoughts about the gubernatorial race.

Bell ought not hide from open debate

I was very disappointed to read The Daily Progress article “Neff ‘having a devil of a time’ engaging Bell” (Sept. 25).

McDonnell’s thesis does matter

Does a position paper written when Bob McDonnell was 34 years old matter?

Cuccinelli will stand up for our rights

Ken Cuccinelli as attorney general will fight for Virginians’ right to determine Virginia’s future.

Best would make the best sheriff

Paul Best is running for Charlottesville sheriff as an independent. He is extremely qualified for this position and is serious about his work.

Government set up to tax, spend

Until both of our political parties are willing to talk about adequate taxation to pay for adequate government, we’ll be doomed to live an economic fantasy that 10 million unemployed Americans would more likely call a nightmare.

Will trees die to build Y?

Are trees going to be removed to construct a private, religiously affiliated building in a public park?

Cuccinelli has made a positive difference

As a state senator, Ken Cuccinelli has made a positive difference in the lives of many Virginians
