City needs a good Par 3

One of my dreams for Charlottesville has been to have a public par-three golf course. A par-three golf course requires less acreage, less time to play and fewer clubs and thus is less expensive than its Pen Park counterpart.
And a par-three McIntire course would be so much more accessible to so many in our community.
Those with hectic business schedules could use this reconfigured course after work. Retirees could have “a good walk spoiled,” as they play. And children might have real accessibility to begin this normally expensive pastime. (It could also be recreated in a more easily accessible handicap format.) And experienced golfers could also work on their short games with this reinvigorated par-three McIntire, a course that at this time is in dire need of a makeover.
One other suggestion for the future: golf under the lights. This is much more feasible on a par-three than a regulation course and offers more use to a typically daytime sport.
Perhaps, with good planning, the new McIntire Par 3 Golf Course could be even better and more used than the old one and not compete with the Meadowcreek Parkway.
