Goode owes voters a televised debate

I was disheartened to see Virgil Goode pull out of the debate with Tom Perriello, and to see that in fact there may be no televised debates in this critical 5th District race.

Even in these turbulent times Rep. Goode thinks it’s “Goode enough” to retain his seat by hiding behind giant yard signs, railing against immigration and issuing canned right-wing platitudes that are an embarrassment and largely irrelevant in today’s news of economic upheaval and corruption. He clearly sees no need to defend or elaborate on his views or voting record, in a meaningful discussion with constituents nor with his challenger Tom Perriello.

Mr. Perriello is well spoken, an energetic, thoughtful breath of fresh air and hope, with an educated world view that he will apply to widely diverse issues here in the 5th. His leadership, values and willingness to tackle today’s news rise well above the “Goode enough,” lackluster approach of our representative for the last several terms.

If you have not done so I encourage all of you to take 15 minutes of your time and visit http://www.perrielloforcongress.com to listen to Tom Perriello; then give him your vote on Election Day. Demand that our leaders speak to us and answer the tough questions. Do not stand for one more term of “Goode enough.”
