Happy, human British medicine

With all the negative comments about the consequences of going to socialized medicine, I’d like to relate a recent experience of my English sister in Norwich, England.
Recovering in her hospital room from hysterectomy surgery (which, incidentally, was performed exactly one week after the need was diagnosed) she was visited by the hospital DJ, asking her for song re-quests to be played that even-ing — which they did, in her name.
How’s that for a happy, human aspect of a much-maligned system? And I know she wasn’t charged for the entertainment.
