McDonnell clear winner of debate

The debate between state Sen. Creigh Deeds and Robert McDonnell on Oct. 12 made evident the difference between these two men and their plan for Virginia. Deeds appeared to be a bitter and intemperate individual who admitted that he was not a good speaker and likened himself to Abraham Lincoln. I am sure none of his speeches will be remembered as is the Gettysburg Address.
Deeds’ solution to problems like transportation and education was his promise to appoint a commission to deal with the problem.
His 22 years as a politician taught him this was a way to avoid responsibility: Should no workable solution evolve, it would be the fault of the commission.
I would prefer a man to represent Virginia who spoke well, made a good appearance and has a plan now, to solve some of the important problems without a tax increase. I will vote for Robert McDonnell.
