Obama candidacy relies on race

In a letter published Sept 18 (“Obama critiques conceal racism,” The Daily Progress), the writer argues that racism is the real reason so many people oppose Barack Obama for president.

Actually, his race and his skill at delivering speeches are the only reasons he got the nomination. Most of the news media are anxious to have a black president, and so they have actively promoted his candidacy. His soaring speeches did the rest.

Other than writing two books that are essentially memoirs, what has this man ever accomplished? Sarah Palin has done more in two years as governor of Alaska that Obama has in his entire life.
