Palin: Spicy beans, no meat
Simple folk know that Hormel, the food-processing biggie, offers a line of canned chili, some varieties of which are composed of spicy beans, but no meat. Isn’t that an apt description of Sarah Palin’s address to the Republican convention? Spicy beans and no meat.
Then, we were treated, via John McCain’s speech, to a platter of pabulum, presented in a puff pastry of patriotic platitudes.
For my part, I’ve now developed a ravenous appetite for real food: steak, in fact. It was there in abundance at the Democratic conventions, and it will be again.
