Park intrusions not worth losses

Save our park. I agree completely with the letter of Feb. 2 regarding McIntire Park, the YMCA, softball fields and the Meadowcreek Parkway (“McIntire Park was meant for all,” The Daily Progress). Although the issue of softball vs. soccer fields is debatable (and should be debated), the encroachment of the YMCA and Meadowcreek Parkway are intrusions into the purpose of the park and should not be permitted.
I am sure that benefactor Paul Goodloe McIntire would be livid over the lease-out of parkland for a private building and the sell-out of parkland for a road.
Park encroachments will never be corrected, and the loss of more green space in Char-lottesville is unforgivable.
