Students need family support in education
Published: November 3, 2009
Education in the United States has declined in the past decades. In a 2006 poll taken by the Programme for International Student Assessment, the U.S. ranked 35th out of 57 in math and 29th out of 57 in science.
Education reform and school aid are very well needed for our school system, but for creating more committed and passionate students who achieve, high success starts at home. Parents need to ensure the importance of receiving a high education and instilling moral values and ethics in their kids.
The U.S. government can spend all it wants on education, but if kids don’t have good familial support or high self-esteem, then they will not succeed. They won’t care about going to school or receiving a good education.
Also, if parents infuse good moral values in their children, then there will be less crime. The responsibilities of parents are to raise their children to be able to lead and contribute to this country in a positive manner.
I was fortunate to have been raised in a positive way. Many children, though, don’t have good enough parental support to be able to enter the world. Doing this simple thing can make a huge difference in America.

Mr. Morgan, you are right. It really is that simple. Throwing money at the system all day long will not replace the responsibility of parents to work with their kids nightly on their education.
