Thomas is right man for Albemarle board

To characterize Rodney Thomas as a man 50 years behind times or to remotely suggest that he was personally resistant to Charlottesville’s integration of the public schools in 1958 is stranger than fiction.
Rodney Thomas was born and raised in Charlottesville and attended the Charlottesville public schools.
He readily admitted not having knowledge of injustices bestowed on African-Americans in the community, because he was not a participant of any of these injustices.
Rodney was 14 years old in 1958, doing the typical teenage things.
He was raised in a home where a person was judged by his character, not by his religion or ethnicity.
After knowing Rodney since high school, I know of no character flaws.
I know a devoted family man, a man active in his church, a man extending a hand to help a friend and a man who always had a vested interest in Albemarle County.
We need Rodney Thomas on the Albemarle County Board of Supervi-sors representing the Rio District.

Either Rodney was personally resistant to integration, or - as you claim - he wasn’t and had no knowledge of injustices?  So, he’s either, at worst, a bigot, or at best, ignorant of the massive racial struggles that African Americans have faced over the past fifty years?  Neither of these are very flattering.  I prefer my elected officials to be both non-discriminatory and aware of their surroundings.
