Vote Goode for free enterprise
Published: October 23, 2008
I would like to endorse Republican Virgil Goode for re-election to Congress.
Goode voted against the $700 billion Wall Street bailout-rescue plan both times it came to the floor of the House of Representatives. In so doing, he stood up for the free market, which defines America and created the prosperity we have today.
Let the markets function as our Founding Fathers intended.
When the economy takes a downturn, there are bankruptcies. Assets are sold at auction for low prices.
Those who saved their money instead of gambling in the stock market now have opportunities to acquire those assets and begin to build wealth. The same is true in real estate.
The free market works only if the rules remain in good times and in bad times. The bailout plan changes the rules and seeks to keep the rich where they are at the expense of everybody else, through taxation.
By opposing this intervention, Goode is standing for the average Joe who follows the rules and takes responsibility for his bad investments just as he is rewarded for his wise decisions.
The Democratic challenger, Tom Perriello, supports the bailout. But Virgil Goode supports the system of rules known as the free market.
On Nov. 4, vote for the economic system that gave America the highest standard of living and the greatest freedom in world history.
