Warner funding had bad timing

Re: “John W. Warner Parkway? Idea has supporters” (The Daily Progress, Jan. 4):

Let’s all remember what was happening in our country when John W. Warner brought home the bacon to Charlottesville. New Orleans and the Gulf Coast were in shambles after Hurricane Katrina’s destruction. Yet this politician earmarked $27.5 million to his good ol’ buddies to build a vanity road.

Obviously he felt this more important than helping out thousands of people struggling with the hardships of destruction of a massive hurricane and flood.
Sure, name the Meadowcreek Parkway after this Republican politician; then we can all know what a selfish act this was, when so many fellow countrymen went hungry and homeless. Also this way we’ll know whom to blame for destroying the beautiful and enjoyable McIntire Park.

Billions of dollars were poured into the Katrina ravaged areas; there was never any lack of funds going into that area.  To blame Warner because he helped fund a road that has been in the planning for almost thirty years is absolutely ridiculous but typical of a Charlottesville liberal. Why aren’t you complaining about Obama’s 150 million dollar inauguration? ...“when so many fellow countrymen went hungry and homeless.”  Oh, that’s right he is a democrat and that’s ok.
