Which McDonnell can voters believe?

While attending the Regent University in 1989, Bob McDonnell wrote a thesis on how working women, feminists and homosexuals are undermining the traditional family.
The working women of Virginia deserve Mr. McDonnell’s respect for their efforts of providing for their families, but instead they are belittled by him.
Mr. McDonnell has said he’s changed his mind since writing the thesis, but the timing of his regret should be sounding alarm bells off in the minds of working women, feminists and homosexuals.
When he wrote this thesis in 1989, he could afford to express his true feelings because he wasn’t running for governor at that time.
These three groups of people should ask themselves a very important question before they head to the voting polls:
Has Mr. McDonnell really changed his mind about us, or is he conveniently changing his mind now because he’s running for governor and this will cost him votes?
Mr. McDonnell is a Republican, and the Republican Party’s political platform has never accepted the gay and lesbian lifestyle in our society.
So it shouldn’t come as a big surprise to the gay and lesbian community that, if Mr. McDonnell becomes the next governor of Virginia,
he won’t support their political agenda.
The working women, feminists, gays and lesbian community should be very concerned about the possibility of Mr. McDonnell becoming our next governor.

40 yrs ago when I was a kid, and traditional families were the norm, we, as kids, could run around the neighborhood on Halloween and not be escorted by parents. Additionally, we could be confident that everything in our treat bag was safe to eat. I think time has already shown the value of the traditional family. The generation of kids who have been raised in day care facilities….many today are sorely lacking in moral fiber.

I have a feeling there alot of working woman who cringe at the thought of being included in your circle of influence. And yes, the family unit, maw, paw and the youngins are the strength of not only this country, but the human race.

Well, here’s a shocker for you - McDonnell is right!
If we define a “traditional family” as a man, his wife, and their kids, with there being a single breadwinner in the family, then we would all have to agree that women in the workforce, the high divorce rate, “blended families”, gay marriage, gay parenting, etc, have caused the decline of the “traditional” family.
The real question is whether it is a good thing or a bad thing for society in general, or for the individual? Maybe we can exist quite well as a society without “traditional families” being the norm, history will tell. But you can’t deny that there are fewer traditional families, and that the factors that McDonnell cited are contributing to it.
McDonnell’s record with respect to women in the workforce, including his daughters and his staff, speak more to me about how he will govern VA than trying to interpret a thesis from 20 years ago.
