Why all of this Sarah Palin vitrol?

Watching the news and reading recent letters to the editor in The Daily Progress, I don’t understand all the consternation and hate aimed at Sarah Palin.

Here is a working mom with five children who has worked her way up from an active PTA and hockey mom to potentially the vice president of the United States. She is shattering the glass ceiling and stands as a shinning example to young women everywhere that they to can achieve anything.

Yet, this achievement is greeted with disdain and contempt from the left. Why?

Because she doesn’t espouse liberal beliefs.

With Sarah Palin hitting the stage, feminism has been exposed as not a movement for the advancement of women, but a political movement dedicated to putting liberals in power regardless of their gender.

The assault on Mrs. Palin reminds me of the smear campaign against Clarence Thomas almost 20 years ago for being a black man who dared to wander off the liberal plantation. I have a feeling we will be hearing a lot more from Sarah Palin and women like her, and I guess that is what liberals fear most.

“tip of iceberg”???  OK, don’t quit your day job. It remains, your sad attempt at a humour notwithstanding, that Judge Thomas, along with Scalia et al, are the last defense against an elected Socialist government, with Apollo Obama as the annointed leader, that is so left leaning, our forefathers, nay our grandfathers, would be horrified, (unless your grandfather happened to be J. Stalin or K. Marx, or course).  Clarence Thomas was a parting gift to America from G. Bush I, and for that I will always be grateful.

Clarence Thomas is not the point of a spear, rather the tip of the iceberg.

No, Wilfau, the writer hit the nail on the head re: S. Palin’s detractors.  She’s bright, hard-working and virtuous, qualities that true libs like yourself disdain, because these characteristics support a meritocracy, not the egalitarian uptopia that you desire.
As for Clarence Thomas, his voting record on the court has been brilliant.  He has been the point of the spear, holding at bay the Socialist monster’s fusillade attempting to tear down our cultural and economic institutions.

Liberals are not the only voters who do not support Palin.  I know conservative Republicans who think of her as both mean and uninspiring.  Her achievements are not that impressive.  She stands as a shinning example to young women everywhere that, like Bush, even a dummy can achieve anything.

As for myself, I watched her on the debate and at the Republican Convention.  It seems like she has no original thoughts and would be a disaster if she were to be President.  She doesn’t know the difference between being a maverick and being clueless.

Clarence Thomas was a poor choice not only because he is conservative but also because of his harassment of one of his co-workers.  Remember his “pubic-hair-on-the-coke-can” jokes?
