Yes, mailer produces outrage — at Rob Bell

» 2 Comments | Post a Comment

I was one of the people who received the mailing about Del. Rob Bell (“Neff mailing compares Bell to bad hubby,” The Daily Progress, Oct. 22), and I wanted to write to share my thoughts on it.
I, like a lot of other people, was outraged. Outraged that Del. Bell voted the way he did.
In the article, I was impressed by Rob Bell’s ability to dodge the issue when he claimed that education funding had been increased during his tenure, but didn’t address the charge that he voted to cut education funding. The mailer clearly cited the votes he made, and nothing he says can cover up his voting record. The fact is that education funding increased in spite of Bell, not because of him.

I agree. This day and time the funding of public schools does little to improve education. There never seems to be an end to it as these school systems believe they are supposed to do and be everything for the children.

Increasing the funding for education does not improve the system. Private schools do a better job at half the costs. The state of Utah spends half of what the state of New York does per student. But, the test scores are almost identical
for hese 2 states. So increasing funds for education is NOT the answer. Maybe you should look for something else to be “outraged” about.
