AT WEEK’S END: Potted pot problem
Did you hear about the motorists who were concerned about a load of shrubs that had apparently fallen off a truck into the highway?
The “shrubs” were a very lucrative marijuana crop.
Southern Oklahoma officials thought they were responding to a highway safety problem when they received calls from motorists about plants in the road.
Well, it was a highway safety problem with a twist.
The shrubs that were strewn on the road — some 236 of them — were indoor plants that had been carefully tended. Some were still upright when authorities found them, some had tumbled on their sides.
They had an estimated street value of $500,000.
Authorities can only estimate, also, what might have caused someone to dump $500,000 worth of marijuana on the highway. They think it might have been an act of anger in a domestic dispute.
Wonder if pot-smoking contributed to the tension in that household?
