Don’t bother crying ‘Fire!’

Unbelievable, but true:
A suburban Pittsburgh man slept through a house fire, and not even the sirens of arriving firetrucks or the sounds of firefighters knocking down the blaze served to wake him up.
The home was so severely damaged that firefighters could not even check the interior for a couple of hours.
When they did make it safely inside, they found a man still asleep in a bedroom. He apparently had no idea what had happened.
The town fire marshal said he was “flabbergasted” that anyone had survived. The sound sleeper suffered only smoke inhalation. Turns out, the home had been built in additions, which may have created a firewall that protected his bedroom.
No word on whether the man had a smoke detector. But we bet that even if he had, he’d never have heard it.
