Lend a helping hand
Applause to Nicole Muller, a high school junior who has taken on a big goal:
She’s trying to collect a ton of food before Saturday to donate to local food banks.
Ruth Jones, with the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, was on target when she said that “… it’s incredible to have a 16-year-old who is so passionate about the issue of hunger… . It’s just something you don’t hear about very often.”
Ms. Muller is founder of the charity, Neighbors-4-Neighbors. She attends Western Albemarle High School.
And although she’s set herself a big goal, she’s more than halfway there. As of Monday, she’d collected 550 pounds of food.
Along with applauding her efforts, area residents might also consider actually lending her a hand. To volunteer a donation, e-mail at
