Possibly inappropriate
“Possibility City” is a great catchphrase. That’s what Louisville, Ky., calls itself in its marketing.
But now a new round of ads asking folks to consider the possibilities has some officials squirming with embarrassment.
You see, the possibilities mentioned are not exactly family-friendly. They include a visitor’s wish to meet a girl with a tattoo in an unmentionable place and a reference to happiness exceeding that of Viagra. (Hmm… Maybe Louisville — known at home as “Lou”— also ought to be marketing condoms with these activities.)
If the purpose of advertising is to attract attention, the new campaign has certainly done that. But like Mama always said: Be careful what kind of attention you attract.
