Law enforcement officials, many Republican, endorse Cuccinelli

Republican attorney general candidate Ken Cuccinelli picked up the endorsement today of 77 law enforcement officials, including sheriff’s and commonwealth’s attorneys. Most are Republicans, but about 30 are independents, a spokesman said.

They cited Cuccinelli’s attempts in the legislature to curb gang activity and crack down on drug dealers.

Cuccinelli, a state senator from Fairfax, is running against Democrat Steve Shannon, also of Fairfax and a member of the House of Delegates.
