PREP FOOTBALL PREVIEW: A new era at Albemarle

Wendell Green enters his first season as head coach at Albemarle, as former head man Rick Vrhovac stepped down after his 2008 squad finished 4-6 overall and 2-5 in the Commonwealth District. Nelson bounces back with win

Nelson County head coach Tim Crawford admitted that his team got dominated in its opener last week against Madison County. On Friday night, his troops traveled to Buckingham County and came away with a decisive 28-7 victory, their first of the young season.

More prep weather woes

It appears that Albemarle’s baseball team isn’t the only squad that came out on the short end of Mother Nature’s stick. Charlottesville’s girls soccer team’s state quarterfinal battle with Courtland was called a 1-0 Courtland victory after a thunderstorm delay of nearly three hours. There were 38 minutes left on the clock when the game was delayed, but those 38 minutes won’t ever be played.
