Quarterback the least of Cavs’ worries

After all of the hullabaloo, it really didn’t matter who suited up at quarterback for Virginia on Saturday night against Connecticut. Johnny Unitas could have been taking the snaps and the Cavaliers would have still been under whelming.

Cavs get their first road test

Some of Virginia’s players will find that out for the first time tonight. The Cavaliers (1-1) play their first road game of the season at Connecticut (2-0) at 7:30 p.m. at cozy Rentschler Field.

Lalich out, Verica in against UConn

Through a university-issued press release Wednesday evening, Groh announced that embattled starting quarterback Pete Lalich would not travel to Saturday’s game at Connecticut and would be replaced by sophomore Marc Verica.

    Huskies could rain on Cavs’ parade

    Didn’t take long for Al Groh to sum up the challenge in traveling to Connecticut for this Saturday’s game against the Huskies. All the Virginia coach had to do was remember back to last year’s 17-16 win over UConn in Scott Stadium.

    In Rain Man-like fashion, Al Groh spouted out number after number Tuesday during his weekly press conference in the depths of John Paul Jones Arena. Every set of digits tossed out relayed the scary proposition that awaits Virginia’s football coach on Saturday at Connecticut.
