On a pivotal sequence in the third quarter, Virginia linebacker Cam Johnson raced around the Miami offense line and dropped quarterback Jacory Harris to the ground.

Miami blanked Virginia’s already stagnant offense in the second half, torched the Cavaliers’ defense for four touchdowns in the final two quarters and cruised to 52-17 victory at Land Shark Stadium in front of 48,350.

Whether it leads to moving boxes or moving bowl tickets, that potentially tumultuous path starts today against No. 16 Miami (6-2, 3-2 ACC) at noon at Land Shark Stadium, the home of the NFL’s Miami Dolphins.

In a matter of minutes, Virginia fumbled away its lead in ACC’s Coastal Division and perhaps its chance to play in the league’s championship game.

Jacory Harris started the day on the sidelines for Miami behind starting quarterback Robert Marve, but he ended his trip to Charlottesville with a 9-yard touchdown pass to Aldarius Johnson in overtime that eventually led to the Hurricanes’ 24-17 victory over the Cavaliers.
