Zach Vrhovac’s victory in the 800-meter run paced the Albemarle boys track team to a fourth-place finish at the Group AAA meet.

During her junior campaign, Liz Barclay battled through anemia and was still able to qualify for the Group AAA championship as an individual by placing in the top ten at the Northwest Region championship.

The Patriots made the most of the home field advantage as both teams finishing second and qualified for the VHSL state championship.

This weekend, Male and Weisend took those who worked out in the summer to the Outer Banks Invitational. Both teams rewarded their coaches with first-place finishes, breaking a couple of records in the process.

However, that was not the case. The two Warriors ran through the pain, and Satterwhite finished second overall behind teammate Stutzman, who set a new course record for the two-mile race.

Jordan Hill won two events, placed in two others and ran the anchor leg of Albemarle’s winning 4x400-meter relay team as the Patriots claimed the Northwest Region boys track title at UVa’s Lannigan Field on Friday.
