A truly triumphant year for the London family took another positive twist Monday night.

It seemed quite fitting that Al Groh tore a page out of Richmond coach Mike London’s celebration playbook on “Retro Day.”

How well those retro uniforms remain their natural color may depend on the amount of rainfall absorbed in the hours prior to and during today’s contest with the University of Richmond.

Coaches will readily tell you that they would prefer not to coach against their best friends.

The Cavaliers (0-1), at this point, would likely settle with merely flashing back to last season. After a disheartening loss last year at Wyoming in the opening game, the Cavaliers promptly won their next seven straight games and climbed into the national polls for the first time since 2005.

An impending date with the University of Richmond may have never looked so appealing.
