That’s exactly what Orange County did on Friday night. With the game against Louisa County hanging in the balance, the Hornets turned to Quintin Hunter. And on fourth-and-4, the Virginia-bound quarterback delivered, running for the first down. Two plays later, Orange put the Lions away with a touchdown by Darryus Gilliam to secure the 41-26 win.

Center Jon Rasnick, right guard Bion Anderson and right tackle Eric Jewell are three seniors that form the core of the Orange offensive line. More specifically, they’re Quintin Hunter’s bodyguards.

Defense and special teams made all the difference in Monticello’s win over Orange County on a rainy Friday night.

Last year, Orange County’s defense gave up 61 points and 626 yards of total offense as Monticello handed the Hornets their only Jefferson District loss of the season.

The Hornets were up to the task in the first half, but were unable to stop the Chargers rushing attack in the second half as Chancellor picked up a 21-7 win.

ORANGE — During his first two years of high school, Quintin Hunter was one of the role players in the Orange offense, which revolved around Brad Starks.

Orange racked up 419 yards of total offense and led 34-0 at halftime before a running clock was used in the second half to get the visiting Blue Devils and hundreds of rain-soaked fans home early.

Rarely do three such signal-callers come through school at the exact same time, but this year, fans across the Jefferson District will be treated to a trio of quarterbacks who have the potential to play at the next level. Monticello’s Michael Graham, Orange’s Quintin Hunter and Charlottesville’s Kevin Leatherwood will give defensive coordinators headaches all season.
