UVa junior Sanam Singh gave Kevin Kim, the No. 87 player in the world, all he wanted before coming up just short in a third-set tiebreaker. Kim defeated Singh, 7-5, 6-7, 7-6, to move into a semifinal showdown today with Donald Young, who beat Virginia alum Dom Inglot in straight sets.

Jenkins upset highlights VNB qualifying

Participating in a first-round qualifying match at the Virginia National Bank Men’s Tennis Challenger, the UVa freshman defeated Jamie Baker of Great Britain, 7-6 (7-4), 1-6, 6-3. Baker, the 346th-ranked player in the world, was the No. 1 seed in the qualifying bracket.

On Friday afternoon at the Snyder Tennis Center, Singh and Barrick, as they have all year, dominated their opponents. The duo’s 8-3 victory over Jason Hill and Nick Birger at No. 2 doubles paved the way for an easy 4-0 triumph over Navy in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
