Tonight’s Jefferson District matchup pitting Orange County against Western Albemarle will mark the final home game for what Warriors coach Ed Pierce calls “a remarkable group” of seniors.

Orange County exploded in the second quarter Friday night to pull away and beat visiting William Monroe 44-3 in a Jefferson District showdown.

Louisa County used a balanced rushing attack and a complete team effort on Friday night to roll past William Monroe, 56-0.

Sophomore quarterback Simon Pendleton threw for 303 yards and four touchdowns and Alquan Newman rushed for 85 yards and a score as the Cyclones blew away William Monroe 38-7 Friday night.

Senior Logan Terrell led the Mountaineers with 126 yards on nine attempts and four touchdowns in Madison County’s 57-7 win.

With new coaches (William Monroe and Fluvanna) as well as a new team (Goochland) there are a lot of unknowns in the Jefferson District this season.

Enrollment changes will knock several area high schools down to lower divisions for the 2009 and 2010 football seasons.
