Virginia-Georgia Tech game suspended

In Atlanta, Virginia starter Danny Hultzen and Georgia Tech starter Deck McGuire are likely burned for the weekend after the team’s series-opening contest was halted Friday in the fourth inning due to a lightning and tornado warning.

Virginia led 3-2 when the game was stopped, and later suspended, but the Yellow Jackets had runners at first and second with one out.

“I will consider who the best option is and go with that person,” Virginia coach Brian O’Connor said. “I don’t know who it is going to be.”

The teams will resume today at 3 p.m. and play the second game of the series afterwards.
