Wiswall leads Eagles

DURHAM, N.C. — Mickey Wiswall drove in five runs with a pair of home runs and a double as Boston College took a 7-3 victory over Georgia Tech in the ACC tournament.

Wiswall drove in two runs with a bases-loaded double in the bottom of the first inning Thursday. He hit a two-run home run in the third and added a solo shot in the fifth. Robbie Anston added a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth for the Eagles (32-24).

J.B. MacDonald surrendered all of Georgia Tech’s runs in the fifth inning, but got the victory. Starter Jed Bradley went four innings to take the loss for the Yellow Jackets (34-17-1).

The Eagles play Miami today, while Georgia Tech faces Florida State on Saturday.

Florida State 4, Miami 2

In Durham, N.C., Tommy Oravetz hit a two-run home run to cap a four-run, first-inning to help Florida State take a victory over Miami in the ACC tournament.

The Seminoles (42-14) will play their next game Saturday at noon against Georgia Tech.

Miami starter Chris Hernandez gave up a leadoff single to Tommy Holt. Stephen Cardullo and Mike McGee followed with back-to-back run-scoring doubles. Oravetz hit his seventh homer with two out.

Harold Martinez drove in a run for Miami on a fourth-inning sacrifice fly. Yasmani Grandal homered in the sixth inning for the Hurricanes (36-19), who play Friday at noon against Boston College.
