Wright sets all-time scoring record
With 12:59 left in the second half, Monica Wright nailed a long-range shot from the corner, becoming the all-time leading scorer in Virginia women’s basketball history.
Wright closing in
With 16 points tonight against Maryland (12-3, 0-1 ACC) inside John Paul Jones Arena, Monica Wright will surpass the school’s all-time leading scorer, legendary guard Dawn Staley.
Jones’ plays fuel Cavs
The play proved to be a precursor to one of Jeff Jones’ better games of the season. In the second half, he drilled a big 3-pointer following a timeout to cut N.C. State’s lead to 45-39, essentially keeping Virginia in the game.
