Virginia lands another in-state football recruit
Virginia’s football program landed in 12th commitment for the Class of 2009 earlier today.
Continuing with a trend, the Cavaliers’ latest find ranks among the state’s top recruits.
Connor McCartin, a 6-foot-1, 215-pound inside linebacker from Fauquier High, becomes the 10th in-state recruit to announce his intentions to play for Virginia.
During his junior season, McCartin registered 135 tackles, four sacks and two interceptions. The first team All-Northwest Region performer also collected four fumble recoveries.
While other offers are expected to come shortly, UVa was the first program to officially offer McCartin. He was receiving interest from Virginia Tech, Maryland and Duke. The Hokies, however, informed McCartin that their incoming recruiting class would not include an inside linebacker.
McCartin will find a familiar face in Charlottesville when he arrives for training camp next summer. His older brother, Kyle, is scheduled to join the program as a recruited walk-on in August, adding depth at quarterback.
