The Virginia menʼs basketball program has made a pretty nice addition.

The Daily Progress has learned that Jontel Evans, a 5-foot-10 point guard out of Hampton, has given his verbal commitment to play for UVa in 2009.

Evans, who will be a senior at Bethel High this year, was also considering Virginia Tech and Marquette, among other schools.

Virginia has one remaining scholarship for its Class of 2009. UVaʼs top target remains 5-star big man Ryan Kelly, who hails from Raleigh, N.C. The Cavaliers are also in hot pursuit of forward Tristan Spurlock, a Maryland native.

Wow.  Big time player.  That’s an impressive addition.
