Top teams prepare for tournament finals
Tonight’s Jefferson District girls’ and boys’ basketball championship games at Monticello will both pit the league’s top two teams against each other, despite a weather-shortened regular season.

It was a long time coming, but Albemarle finally got back on the court on Wednesday night, and shook off the rust with a decisive 63-50 win over Massaponax in the quarterfinal round of the Commonwealth District tournament.

Western Albemarle got some timely baskets and used its stifling defense to hold off Fluvanna County in the Jefferson District semifinals at Monticello High School on Wednesday night.
