However the Western Albemarle girls lacrosse teamed looked particularly poised on Thursday evening, defeating Charlottesville 15-8 to win the Jefferson District championship.

For the last decade, the VIC boys lacrosse championship trophy has been Covenant property. That didn’t change on Saturday when the Eagles — coming in with a chip on their shoulder after Thursday’s loss to rival St. Anne’s-Belfield — outlasted Virginia Episcopal 13-9.

All CVA: Haws piloted Warriors to Region II title
This year Haws led a group of talented young players to a 15-3 record. In doing so, Western won both the Region II and Jefferson District Championships before falling in a 10-9 overtime loss to Loudon Valley in the quarterfinals of the VHSL state tournament.
All CVA: Moss helped lead Patriots to state semifinals
In her senior year at Albemarle, Moss scored 76 goals, assisted on 38 others and led her team to the semifinals of the VHSL State Tournament.
