Barons stop Saints
Blue Ridge point guard Denzel Wilson had been feeding his big man Darnell Turner all night during the Barons’ 75-58 win over St. Anne’s-Belfield — it was about time Turner returned the favor.
Eagles win LIS crown
In the first quarter of the LIS championship against Steward, Smethurst became just the third player in school history to reach 1,000 points, and she helped to guide the Eagles to their third straight title with a 50-31 win.

Madison completes undefeated regular season run

Dragons go from worst to first
With a 59-36 win over Monticello, the Greene Dragons completed their miraculous turnaround going from last place to regular-season Jefferson girls basketball champions in just 12 months.
William Monroe wraps up regular season with victory

The Hornets got big steals from Tyler Seal and Quintin Hunter in the closing seconds and made 3 of 4 free throws in the final three seconds to prevail 69-65 and earn their biggest win of the season thus far.

Western Albemarle point guard Ryan Hughes is the steady hand that has helped put the Warriors in contention for the district title. But in a must-win game against Charlottesville, Hughes couldn’t help Western much, stuck on the bench with an injury he suffered early in the first half.

Jones leads Buckingham over Goochland
On Friday night, Jones continued the trend in his final regular-season home game as a Knight, scoring from everywhere on the court and leading his team to a huge 82-74 victory on senior night over visiting Goochland, which came into the game with an unblemished James River District record.
Saints lose in league matchup
But there would be no magic this time around for the Saints, as the scoring came to a halt down the stretch and the Seahorses wrapped a 75-70 road victory on a Mike Gbinije dunk in the games final seconds.

New face keys CHS victory
Tanyqua Williams has been waiting to play basketball for quite some time. Finally eligible to play, Williams made an official introduction to the Jefferson District in Charlottesville’s 59-42 win over Orange County on Tuesday night.

TUESDAY MORNING SHOOTAROUND: Balanced Dragons hit their stride
Like most teams, William Monroe can’t go toe-to-toe with anyone by playing a one-on-one game. It’s clear at this point, after back-to-back wins over Western Albemarle and Orange County at home, the Dragons are starting to learn that lesson.

Hosting George Mason, the Mountaineers jumped out to a 16-0 start, and dominated on both sides of the court, winning 61-34.
